From his home in County Armagh, Northern Ireland, David has developed a highly successful teaching practice providing expert tuition in a range of guitar playing styles on acoustic and electric guitar. His teaching studio is located in pleasant quiet surroundings, within easy reach from the nearby town centre. Lessons are given on a one-to-one basis or in a small class depending on the student's requirements and ability.

The teaching studio is well equipped with a range of instruments and teaching aids. There are also facilities for providing recorded examples of lesson material and recording the student playing their own instrument. Use of modern music technology including computers can be demonstrated as an aid to learning music. Impartial advice on the purchase of guitars and other associated accessories as well as music books is also given.

For those students wishing to take music examinations, David facilitates London College of Music guitar examinations. Preparation for graded examinations is given with thorough training in aural, theory and musicianship skills. The LCM guitar syllabus provides a structured and comprehensive method of studying the guitar that is relevant to the practical music needs of the modern day guitarist. The examinations are fully validated by the Thames Valley University, are fully approved by the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority (QCA), and have been placed on the National Qualifications Framework. At higher grades students are awarded UCAS points for attaining advanced level LCM/RGT qualifications (grades 6,7,8). Not everyone learning the guitar wishes to take music examinations - so the option is left up to the individual taking the lessons. Whether taking examinations or not David always ensures that learning to play the guitar is an enjoyable activity.

David frequently attends the RGT teacher's conferences in London to keep up to date with the latest information on examinations and syllabuses. An advocate of life long learning David continually seeks to expand his own knowledge of playing and teaching the guitar by attending on a regular basis master classes held by leading national and international guitarists.
